January Cakeup : Ice Cream

Five food bloggers. One summer's evening. Wine, pizza and lots of foodie chat. Canberra Cakeclub was born.

It's funny how these things happen sometimes. If it hadn't had been for Nicki, The Strawberry Thief, we would never have heard about the Secret Cake Club Perth. And without hearing about the goings-on from the other side of the country, we would never have been compelled to investigate further.

Canberra Cake Club started one Sunday afternoon as a Twitter account and - here we are - a few weeks later and we have held our first event.

It was pretty simple to come up with a theme once we had our venue organised. Stripey Sundae specialises in amazing ice cream, right? So, of course we had to do an ice cream theme!

The "creations" were amazing and we are pretty sure that all those who attended had a rather sweet time!

Funfetti Cake by Megan (The Girl Has Sparke)

Golden Gaytime Cake by Rachi (Le Bon Vivant)

Rum and Raisin Cookies by Jayne Dough Too

Can't have cake without coffee! The coffee at Stripey Sundae was every bit as good as it looks

Time to make the rounds

Vanessa and Jas clearly having a good time

Amanda and Giulia comparing notes

When no one talks it's a clear indication of how great the cakes were. And how gorgeous is Stripey Sundae? It really was the perfect venue for our inaugural Cakeup.

Lovely to see our gusts enjoying cake as well as our hosts' coffee

Judging by those smiles Zoe and Megan are liking what's on their plates

It wouldn't be a Cakeup organised by bloggers if the paparazzi in us didn't come out!

Another lovely guest enjoying that delicious ice cream cake

Sharing is caring or a strategy so that they get to try a bit of everything? Good thinking ladies!

Our lovely hosts at Stripey Sundae. Thank you so much for having us!

Are we looking a little pleased with ourselves?

What a resounding success! Everyone had fun on the day and the cakes were absolutely delicious.

Our next Cakeup will be in February.
